DISCOVERING THE COSTA BLANCA

The ‘White Coast’ – on the south-east coast of Spain – comprises some 200 miles of coastline of the Alicante province.

From Denia and its nearby boundary with the Valencian province, down to El Mojon on the border with the Murcian province, there are more than enough beaches to go round and plenty of choice too: from rugged and secluded coves to gently sloping white sandy beaches peppered with sand dunes and welcoming beach bars.

Beyond the beach

While none of the principal towns along this glorious stretch of coast has lost their intrinsic charm, a few minutes drive inland unfolds a different landscape of winding roads, mountain gorges, villages perched on hillsides (don’t expect the menus to be in English!) and a pace of life that leans towards mañana. But no one seems to mind!

If you want to move up a gear or two, there’s no shortage of sporting activities, shopping or opportunities for ‘family days out’. And after the heat of the day, choose between a stroll along one of the beachfront promenades or - for the more adventurous – take in some of the Costa Blanca’s legendary nightlife.
