LOS ALCAZARES

Los Alcazares, on the western shore of the Mar Menor, owes much of its history and development to the mineral-rich waters of this vast saltwater lagoon. The town has been a magnet for ‘thermal bathers’ from before Roman times and is still popular as such today.

A key feature of Los Alcazares is its glorious promenade adjoining the beach, with a colourful selection of beach-side bars, ice cream parlours, tapas, restaurants and cafes. The beach itself slopes gently into the warm waters of the Mar Menor – and this makes it an ideal location for young families or those pursuing all kinds of water sports.

With a good choice of rental accommodation around the town, Los Alcazares is well placed as a destination resort. The town now has its own golf course (although there are several others just a short drive away. During the summer, there’s a ferry from the beach to La Manga (and back!). And the historic city of Cartagena is less than 20 minutes drive.
